Sunday morning’s session at the Women’s Curling World Cup was postponed after a television network found positive Covid-19 cases.
Eve Muirhead’s Scotland pitch was ready for play against China in the seventh round of the round robin in Calgary, Canada.
According to World Curling, no athletes or officials are in danger.
“All employees of the competition show are now in isolation at their hotels while further testing and contact tracing takes place,” it said.
The German team had already started the competition, including a loss to Scotland in which two of their five players went missing due to Covid protocols.
However, World Curling insisted that the broadcast staff be in separate hotels from the athletes and officials.
It is expected to resume around noon session to begin with. At 9:00 a.m. BST, games scheduled for later in the week have been postponed.
Following victories over the United States, Japan and Germany, the Muirhead Ice Rink topped the round table with the defending Swiss champions, Olympic champions Sweden and the Russians.
British Curling said that despite testing positive, organizers “have done an excellent job protecting everyone in the Calgary bubble over the past two months”.
“British curling and Scottish curling, led by the World Curling Federation, Alberta Health and Curling Canada, fully respect and support the efforts of everyone in the Calgary bubble,” it said in a statement.
Scotland will meet its Korean allies on Sunday evening, who have so far lost all three connections.
