For its 74th edition, the Locarno Film Festival is adding two more world premieres to its schedule: “She Will” and “Sto Minute Is Zizhny Ivana Denisovicha” (“100 Minutes”). The in-charge announced this on Tuesday.

“She Will” is the debut film by Franco-British director Charlotte Colbert. The psychological thriller tells the story of Veronica Ghent (Alice Kriege), who, after having both breasts amputated, moves back to Scotland with her caregiver Desi (Kota Eberhart).

The film is planned as a grand premiere for the Fuori Concorso segment and will be shown on August 5th; The cast and director should then be available to answer questions.

“Sto minut is zizhny ivana denisovicha” (“100 minutes”) on Piazza Grande on 13 August is to enrich the program, as stated in the message. The film belongs to the Russian director Gleb Panfilo, who was awarded the Golden Leopard in 1969 for “We ogne broda net” (“No Path Through Fire”, 1968).

Panilov’s most recent work deals with the life of Ivan Denisovitch Schuko; The litterateur was one of the Russian soldiers who fought for the Soviet Union against the Nazis and was then banished to Siberian labor camps by Stalin. The story is based on “A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1970 for this.

In early July, the Locarno Film Festival announced its schedule, according to which a total of 203 films are to be shown, including 97 world premieres. Now two more are being added. The 74th edition of the film festival will run from August 4 to August 14.
