Arjen Robben said he would join Frank de Boers’ team for the European Championship this summer if he received a call from the Dutch coach.
Former PSV playmakers, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, stopped playing football in 2019, but moved back to the Iredivi club FC Groningen in 2020, with which they began their careers as a player.
Robben, 37, missed the most of this season due to injury, but made his first start in seven months on Sunday against FC Iman and added two assists in a 4–0 win.
The 2010 World Cup Finals withdrew from the Netherlands in 2017 after winning 96 national teams and scoring 37 goals for their country.
But Robben says he will not rule out the possibility of joining the Euro – though he recognizes that he is realistic about his chances of being selected by de Boer.
Asked how Robben said she would respond to the call ESPN In Holland: “Then I go. It will be fun, but you have to be realistic, be very fit and know that you can contribute to the team.
“Finally the car Orange [the Dutch national team] There is a step.
“Participating in Euro 2020 is one of my dreams, but you have to be very careful because I can already see the headlines tomorrow.
“At the moment I’m not saying that I want to participate, but if he does [De Boer] Should call, I would say yes. “”
De Boer will name their final Euro 2020 team on 28 May in their friendly matches against Scotland and Georgia of the Netherlands ahead of their tournament campaign, which will start against Ukraine on 13 June.
Virgil van Dijk remains a doubt for the tournament. The Liverpool midfielder continues to recover from the cruciate ligament injury for much of this season.
