Glasgow Rangers win Old Firm Derby

Glasgow / Munich – Scottish football record champion Glasgow Rangers have won in the 422th edition of City against arch-rivals Celtic and are getting closer and closer to the first championship since 2011. Team manager Steven Gerrard’s team won the Old Firm 1: 0 (0: 0) and, as leaders, extended their lead in the table to 19 points. However, Celtic, which recently won the title nine consecutive times, was the first game to have played three games short.

It was the 20th win in the 22nd game of the season so far for the unbeaten Rangers. Callum McGregor scored the day’s goal himself (70th). The Rangers had to fall into the fourth category in 2012 due to bankruptcy. In 2016 they again reached the highest Scottish league.

Prior to kick-off, both teams recalled the victims of the eyebrows disaster, which took place 50 years ago when the two arch rivals met. There was a mass panic at the time when Rangers supporters left the stadium shortly before the final whistle sounded and many were trapped in general chaos. A total of 66 people were killed in the accident.
