Jay-Z publishes full-page ads in newspapers across the country dedicated to George Floyd

Protests over killing of George Floyd spread worldwide

The announcement is titled “in dedication to George Floyd. #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd” and quotes an excerpt from a speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, Al. In 1965.

“So we will get up among the horses. We will get up right here, among the tummies. We will get up here among police dogs, if they have them,” quotes the announcement King. “We will stand up in the midst of tear gas! We will get up on our feet in everything they can gather, letting the world know that we are determined to be free! “

Together with Jay-Z, the letter is signed by the parents of Botham Jean, DJ Henry and Antwon Rose II, young black men tragically killed by the police, as well as Van Jones, Charlamagne tha God, Angela Rye, lawyer for the Floyd Family and several activists of organizations like The Innocence Project and Until Freedom.

Team ROC (the philanthropic arm of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation) joined the others to publish the announcement in Tuesday’s editions of the New York Times, Denver Post, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Austin American Statement, The Orlando Sentinel and The Atlanta Journal Constitution, among many other newspapers.
