Glasgow (AP) — Peter Lovell, manager of Scottish First Division football club Celtic Glasgow, thanked the club’s fans for their support following an alleged arson attack on his home.
“It was a devastating attack on me and my family, the consequences of which will be with us for a very long time,” Lowell said in a statement from the association. The football manager said he would also like to thank you for the thousands of helpful messages he has received from Celtic fans and people around the world.
Several cars and parts of Lowell’s home south of Glasgow caught fire on Wednesday night. According to police, footage from surveillance cameras showed how a man threw fire accelerators on several cars before going up in flames. So investigators started arson and asked the public for information.
The football manager and his family were able to get to safety, but were “extremely stunned and stunned” according to the club. According to rescuers, there were no casualties.
Lowell, 61, is stepping down as manager at the end of this season after 17 years. Fans had recently been disappointed as the club lost the championship race against arch-rivals Glasgow Rangers.
