The gathering was Wednesday night about 10 p.m., wrote the dean of pupils, Marianne Thomson, and the head of community security, chief Bobby Maldonado, on Thursday.
The two identified as the gathering “unbelievably reckless conduct.”
In a separate campus-large letter Thursday, Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation J. Michael Haynie said the collecting of 1st-calendar year students “may perhaps have carried out injury sufficient to shut down campus, which includes home halls and in-individual mastering, before the tutorial semester even begins.”
The university is established to start off lessons this Monday.
